Any person over the age of 21 who is no longer eligible to attend a public high school and has not earned a high school diploma. Previous high school credits will be counted toward the overall program completion requirements.
There is currently no cost. However, if this changes, a sliding fee scale based on National Poverty Levels will be applied so coursework is available for all.
It depends on the number of high school credits that were already earned. An analysis of the high school transcript will be the starting point. Classes that were attempted, but not passed can be set up as “credit recovery” and can take as little as 8 weeks to complete. Credits may also be granted for work and life experiences. A unique Academic Advancement Plan is created for each student, and the student’s commitment to the plan will determine the time it takes to earn a high school diploma.
Yes. The student and education directors will analyze the relevance of the experience and assign elective credit when appropriate.
A reading screening test will be administered upon enrollment. Depending on the result, the student may be assigned a functional Reading Course. Computer assisted technology will also be available for below level readers so that course work can be completed successfully.
The diploma will be issued through the Nebraska Department of Education approved Street School.
Computers are available for checkout and required for most courses.
