Mr. Parsons founded and developed the Omaha Street School, an alternative high school serving students who were unsuccessful in traditional learning environments. He graduated from the Creighton University School of Law and is licensed to practice law in Colorado. After 13 years in Colorado, John returned to his old neighborhood to start OSS. In addition to the Adult Education Center, Mr. Parsons is a consultant to schools and nonprofits in Omaha, and is an adjunct professor in the Criminal Justice Department at UN-Omaha.
Co-Director of Education: Jane Byers. M.S.Ed.
Jane Byers has served in education in Nebraska for over 3 decades. Predominantly in the field of special education, Jane has worked with individuals with learning differences from pre-k to graduation. After serving as Director of Special Education in the Papillion/LaVista Community Schools until 2017, Jane has engaged in various consultation projects with the Nebraska Department of Education and Educational Service Unit #3. Jane truly believes that all students can succeed, and she often takes on a support and advocacy role on behalf of marginalized learners.
Co-Director of Education: Jenny Brockman
Brockman has worked in public education in Nebraska for over 30 years. She has served as a Special Educator at many levels from elementary through high school. She has also served as a building and district-level administrator in the Omaha area for the past 14 years. Jennifer has also taught education courses for Metro Community College, Wayne State College and College of Saint Mary. Jennifer is returning to the classroom for Omaha Public Schools as well as serving the Adult Education Center.
